Rainy Night in Tokyo with Fuji’s XF 16mm f/1.4

Heading out for the night

Wow, this is an incredible lens. To be more specific, this is the Fuji XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR. It was a rainy night when I headed out for these images and the weather resistance came in handy.

I’ve used a few wides in the past, but most of them are f/2.8 some are f/2, but very few have the speed of a f/1.4 lens. This lens also has an extremely close focus distance; this combined with f/1.4 gives you some interesting composition options. In addition to the speed, and the close focus ability, the lens has very low distortion, is very sharp and renders colors beautifully. It’s a keeper.

Pardon the food photo, but 1) it was an outstanding meal, and 2) it is a good example of what you can do with close focus and shallow depth of field.
