Letting Go of Sharpness

This is hard for me, but I need to let go of sharpness being a trait that defines a good photograph. Admittedly, I put too much value into an image being sharp and it’s held back some of the joy in my photography.

A few days ago I headed out with the M10 and a Voigtlander f/1 lens in the rain. There were times when I was awkwardly trying to focus the lens while holding an umbrella at the same time. It didn’t work well, but images were captured that told a story I wanted to share.

In the past I would have discarded these images. I don’t want sharpness used as a determining factor for the validity of a good image anymore. There are too many other more important aspects to think about.
